Some fun airbnb options for your Newfoundland elopement! Note: these photos are from the airbnb listings, and were not taken by me!

Dome tent in Gros Morne

Dome tent in Gros Morne National Park with lively colours

Gros Morne is one of the BEST places in Newfoundland to elope with its amazing unique scenery, and I think this sweet dome tent in Trout River would make the experience that much more fun and unique. Trout river is such a hidden gem in Gros Morne compared to the more popular towns of Woody Point, Norris Point and Rocky Harbour, but it is just a short drive from Woody Point on the South side of the park. There are some gorgeous locations in Trout River itself, like the highlands and the lake, and you’ll drive through the iconic Tablelands on your way to and from. Be sure to check out my post on the best places to elope in Newfoundland for more on where to elope in Gros Morne!

Luxury Cabin near Swift Current

luxurious cabin interior in Newfoundland with stone fireplace and A-Frame windows

If you’re looking for accommodations and elopement ceremony location all in one, this place might be for you. This cabin is huge and sits on a large forested lot, so you can stay, get ready, get married, and have a great vacation all in the same spot. It has a very rustic but elegant vibe, sleeps 8, and has a hot tub. And just look at those enormous windows!! Located near the Goobies junction on the highway, there are also some amaaaaazing spots in the Barrens nearby where I’ve been dying to shoot an elopement. Think Scottish highland elopement vibes.

Kitschy 90’s Log Cabin

a kitschy cabin rental in Newfoundland

Are you actually looking for the kind of log cabin that John Candy and Dan Aykroyd filmed a family movie in in the 80-90s? Because boy have I got the place for you! It does also have an amazing outdoor area and is on a pond, along the gorgeous Southern Shore. Also it’s kind of kitsch heaven and I bet there is an amazing VHS collection!

Cottage in Port Rexton near Skirwink Trail

cozy cottage in Port Rexton, Newfoundland surrounded by lupine flowers

This place has such a sweet vibe, is situated in the middle of a wildflower meadow (ie my happy place) and has such great light inside. It is steps away from the Skirwink Trail, which is one of theeeee best places to spot whales and sea stacks and would make a great elopement destination, and also close by The Port Rexton Brewery. This whole area, including Trinity and English Harbour is so so stunning and we would be spoiled for choice for your elopement photo locations. It is also just a great area to relax and spend some time! Great hiking, a brewery afternoon, morning coffee and amazing treats from Two Whale Coffee Shop where they grow all their own produce and have a huge menu of vegetarian paninis, and evening music at both the brewery and the coffee shop. It’s definitely a favourite vacation spot among locals!

Stay in a Lighthouse in the Capital City!

Fort Amherst Lighthouse in St. John's, Newfoundland

Stay in St. John’s but keep it fun – the Fort Amherst Lighthouse at the mouth of The Narrows in St. John’s Harbour! This would be best if you are driving, since there isn’t much in walking distance, but this would be such a unique and fun experience! There’s a great chance of seeing whales and icebergs from here in season, and there is a great hiking trail right in your backyard that leads to a popular swimming spot. You could elope right here at the lighthouse, or head out into the nature surrounding town. The best thing about being in the city is how close you are to lots of amazing hiking trails nearby. The East Coast Trail network passes right through St. John’s and there are tons of goooorgeous meadows and cliffs and mossy forests and waterfalls perfect for your elopement within a 30 minute drive.

Be warned – that fog horn is no joke.

Stay in the City but Make it Cabin Vibes

cozy interior with natural wood trimmings and a woodstove.

This cute home has some great cabin vibes and is in one of the nicest areas of St. John’s, The Battery. It’s a heritage district with old fishing stages jutting out of the side of a cliff into the St. John’s Harbour and it’s pretty dang scenic! The gorgeous Signal Hill trail goes around this cliff, which would make the peeeerfect elopement ceremony location! It’s also a super walkable area, with the popular “East Duck” neighbourhood full of restaurants and coffee shops and breweries around the corner. The sweet Battery Cafe is around the corner, a cute space for coffee and sandwiches and the coziest live music in the evenings. Also this spot has a sauna!

The ‘Ome Pod in Burlington

a modern, Scandinavian style cabin on the edge of the ocean surrounded by trees

If you’re looking for a totally off-the-beaten-track experience, this might be the spot for you! The ‘Ome Pod is located in Burlington on the Baie Vert Peninsula, an area I definitely need to do some more exploring in. This town is home to The Gathering festival, all about gourmet food and art in wild places, which is a bit up in the air at the moment, but you can look for updates on their insta at @thegatheringburlington. This spot is surrounded by wilderness and I think it would make such a fun spot for an elopement adventure!

Charming Maritime Cottage in the Heart of Bonavista

a maritime style home with cedar shingles and a green picket fence in Bonavista, Newfoundland

This is such a cute little cottage right in the middle of Bonavista! There is a sweet bicycle rental and picnic cafe next door (which would be suuuuuch a cute thing to do on your elopement day!) and all the shops and restaurants of Church Street are just around the corner. I have personally spotted whales before in the bay the windows look out over! Check out my post on the best elopement destinations in Newfoundland for tons of tips for great photo locations and things to do on your Bonavista elopement day! I am just bursting with ideas of elopement spots in and around Bonavista.

Cozy Up Indoors with Big Views in Norris Point

loft style airbnb with floor to ceiling windows in Gros Morne National Park

Enormous windows make this cozy spot in Gros Morne look ideal for winter elopements, so you can get some big views without freezing! The view across Bonne Bay to the mountains is just stunning, and its location in Norris Point is amazing! Norris Point is actually my favourite town in Gros Morne and has such a gorgeous Nordic vibe. You’re also just around the corner from Rocky Harbour’s restaurants, and all the amazing hiking on the North side of Gros Morne.
