Banff National Park is the most popular park in Canada – with good reason – so the options of where to stay for your Banff elopement are pretty limitless! From secluded backcountry camping to glamping and cabins to exquisitve five star hotels, you can find them all in and around Banff. Here are some of my favourite options for a unique and fun place to stay for your Banff elopement.
My top secret as a Banff elopement photographer: Most of the best places to stay are actually just outside the park! Banff National Park sits on the border of the Canadian Provinces Alberta and British Columbia. On the Alberta side, where the park is, you will find lots of condos in the towns of Banff and Canmore, but if you are looking for something a little more unique and adventurous, it is best to look just across the border in Field, Golden, and other towns in BC! These areas are especially close to Lake Louise, Peyto Lake, Bow Lake, and other areas on the west side of the park.
Treehouse Glamping in Golden, BC
What could be more unique and adventurous than a glamping treehouse?? This would be such a fun place to stay for your Banff elopement adventure. Just under an hour drive from popular Banff elopement locations like Lake Louise and Peyto Lake, yet tucked in the forest away from the bustle of more popular tourist accomodations. This would be a perfect place for folks who want to experience the incredible beauty of Banff while also experiencing a more serene place in nature. The hosts provide snowshoes and firewood for the wood stove in the winter as well!
Hot tip: If this is your vibe, there are plenty of other exciting glamping spots around the Golden area. Check out HipCamp for more!
A Log Cabin in the Heart of Banff National Park
Storm Mountain Lodge cabins are one of the best places to stay for your Banff elopement if you’re looking for something cozy but convenient! Located near Castle Junction, halfway between the Town of Banff and Lake Louise, you’ll have quick access to everything Banff National Park has to offer, while still feeling like you’re somewhere wild. The main lodge has a restaurant and mountain views, and each cabin offers stone fireplaces and rustic charm in the trees.
oTENTik Glamping Pods in Banff National Park
Parks Canada has two glamping sites, called oTENTik, in Banff National Park, which would be such a fun plan to stay for your Banff elopement! These sites at Two Jack Lake and Tunnel Mountain are located within the National Park campgrounds, placing you right in the excitement of the park. Be aware though – these sites tend to book up in advance, so be sure to bookmark the date reservations open if you want to book one of these!
Basecamp Luxury Glamping Tent in Kananaskis
Kananaskis is located just east of Banff National Park and boasts views just as incredible. This glamping campground is located under an hour from the Town of Banff, and would be a great place to stay if you are planning your Banff elopement in the town, Mount Norquay Lookout, Tunnel Mountain Resevoir or Vermillion Lakes. Kananaskis is also a stunning elopement desination in it’s own right with views to rival Banff and fewer tourists for a more intimate mountain elopement experience. Hot tip: Basecamp also has accomodations of various kinds all across the rockies, so check out their website if you are considering staying in Revelstoke, Golden or Canmore!
Cabin Vibe House in the Town of Banff
If you want to stay right in the town of Banff near the restaurants and shops while still feeling some of those mountain vibes, this condo with a little rustic charm might be for you! This full house has a cozy feel, is located just off vibrant Banff Ave in walking distance to all the local cafes and restaurants. It also has a sweet little backyard with a fire pit for relaxing in the evening. The location makes this a great place to stay if you are planning your Banff elopement on the east side of the park, including Tunnel Mountain Resevoir or Vermillion Lakes!
Log Cabin in Golden, BC With a View
If you want the quintessential log cabin, Golden, BC might just be the place for you! The forests around the town are full of stunning log cabins, like this one with a view of the mountains and plenty of privacy. This would be such a stunning place to escape to after the hustle and bustle of Banff for a little serene wilderness, especially if you are planning on eloping on the west side of Banff National Park in locations like Lake Louise, Peyto Lake, or Bow Lake.
